"Murder, She Wrote" author and voice of Mrs. Potts in "Beauty and the Beast" has died, according to a report.

A statement from her family said that she died at her home in L.A. She died in her sleep at 1 am.

She's most well-loved for her role in the TV show "Murder, She Wrote". Before her television career, she was a star on the stage.

The British-born actress won 5 Tony Awards while starring in productions. She received a sixth Tony as a lifetime achievement.

'Murder' was the most popular show on CBS from 1984 to 1996. She was nominated 12 times for her work.

In 1991, she played Mrs. Potts in the animated BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.

She is survived by her family.
