I am obsessed with the first model of Globe, the utility e-bike brand from Specialized.
In May, Specialized said it was creating a new e-bike brand to liberate people from car culture. The idea was to create a lineup of practical, affordable e-bikes that will focus on bringing more fun to local living while reducing the number of car, truck, and SUV trips needed for everyday transportation
A bike hidden from view by a bunch of cacti was shown in the picture. It seemed like Globe was positioning itself to compete with the growing number of direct-to-consumer e-bike companies that have risen in recent years. They said, "Hey, we can do that, too"
The HaulST is the first model we are looking at. We can see from the image that it is a short-tail cargo bike with a low step frame, an external battery, rear hub motor, and lots of tires.
Specialized went with flat bars instead of the cruiser-style handlebars that the radrunner uses. The HaulST is compatible with all types of riding styles thanks to the other features.
The phrase "Carless Whispers" can be found on the tires, in addition to the reflective rim, which is great. A George Michael reference is something that everyone loves.
Considering Specialized's prices, the inclusion of "value and affordability" is interesting. The company makes fantastic e- bikes with top-of-the-line components that can be really expensive. The newTurbo bikes range in price from $3,250 to $5,500. The bikes typically sell for $2,000 or less.
Globe was able to find cost savings. The motor and battery are the most expensive parts.
I have a lot of questions. What type of motor does this have? Peak and nominal power ratings are what they are. It is rated to carry a certain amount of weight. Is it possible to carry an adult passenger? Globe's logo is out of place. More details will be revealed later this month, and my appetite is whetted.
