It is always good to know that you have this benefit in your pocket. It is similar to having a close friend who is always at the hottest restaurant.

How does Global Dining Access by Resy work?

If you want to make a reservation, you have to call the phone number on the back of your credit card. How they can help will be asked by an agent. It's a good idea to research and narrow down a few restaurants you want them to check out.

You will be subject to the restaurant's cancellation policy if you don't show up. Most restaurants have a cancellation period of 24 hours or more on the day of your reservations. You will probably have to pay a fee if you cancel after that time frame. Before you make a reservation, the agent should tell you about the restaurant's policy. There is no charge for the service.

Amex also has a booking feature on its app. You can make reservations at more than 10,000 restaurants with just a few taps on your screen. Go to theMembership section and selectReserve Top Restaurants.

I tried to use the app to find restaurant reservations in my city, as well as different cities and different dates, but I couldn't get any restaurants to show up for availability. It's still your best bet to call the concierge.

Bottom line

No matter where you dine, you will want to use a card that earns you bonus points. You don't have to pay with Global Dining Access even though you need a card. There are other cards that earn more on dining purchases.

The American Express® Gold Card is my favorite because it gives you 4 Membership Reward points for every dollar you spend. If you spend $4,000 in the first six months of your account opening, the card will give you 60,000 Membership rewards points. The bonus is worth $1,200.

Up to $120 in annual dining statement credits can be earned by you. Foreign transaction fees are not included in the rates and fees.

3 points per dollar on dining is earned by the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Sapphire preferred card.

We have a dinner reservation if you excuse us.
