Maton didn't do well in the regular season. Over the course of the regular season, he allowed 3.3 walks and 7.9 hits per nine appearances.
Maton seemed to be hitting his stride in the second half of the game, as he had not allowed a point in the first half.
The Astros' relief corps has been a major strength all year. Houston'sRelievers ranked first in strikeout rate, FIP, and xFIP. Manager Dusty Baker has a three-headed monster in high-leverage situations.
Maton's injury means he won't be able to play in the playoffs, but he will join a pantheon of baseball players who have been hurt in strange circumstances.
