The talent on show in the footage was clear, even though the footage was not as good as it could have been.

The image of a young girl can be seen in the home video. A young woman dressed in a Real Madrid shirt juggles a ball larger than her head before hitting a shot off into the air.

A story about how many times that ball was thrown around the back garden of the Weir's is told by the fact that hazy video would be used to signal her arrival at the Spanish club.

A pioneer for women's football in Scotland, Real Madrid's new star has the chance to help her country at the World Cup finals. It's a staggering prospect, but one that will no doubt be taken in the stride of the 27-year-old, who spent her youth admiring the duo of Stevie Crawford and Zinedine Zidane.

Puskas nominations & flying high in Madrid

Signing from British soil for 'Los Blancos' would be a landmark event, but not for a Scots person.

Many did not think that he would go to the Spanish club. She won two FA Women's League Cups and two Women's FA Cup during her time at Manchester City, after she had been a key player at other clubs.

She received individual recognition as well. She won the player of the match award in the WSL Cup final, as well as being nominated for two awards for her goals against Manchester United.

Kim Little said that "Kaka" does that all the time. She is one of the best technical football players you will come across and I play against her in the league down in England.

She is pushing herself and excel in Madrid. In six games he has scored five times. During a 100% start to the campaign, the official Real website describes Weir as a "stand out". During that time, three assists have been offered.

Pedro Martinez Losa said that she was living a different experience. It brings you to a new level and you have a better idea of what's going on in the world.

She comes from a club that I have supported for a long time. Even if they are just starting in the women's game, I think they will speed up.

She's fitting in very nicely. She is a good player and hopefully she will continue to score goals for Real Madrid.

'Football was everything growing up'

The East End Park is a different place to pull on a Real Madrid shirt, but the Fife ground is where a young Weir and her siblings were first introduced to the sport.

He talked about life as a primary school child with weekends dominated by football. The afternoons were spent watching her beloved Pars and the mornings were spent playing for the boys team.

But, even at a young age, where she was thriving in an all-boys team, Weir had the awareness to know something had to change. "It's just the way it was back then," Weir said. "On the way back from a game, I said 'Dad, what's the next move?'. This is me at age 10... I knew girls can't play in a boys team forever."

A move to the Hibs academy beckoned with a 10-year-old girl starting out in a girls team.

She was just a little girl when she came through the Easter Road academy, but you could see how good she was. She had a left foot that was amazing.

After we played a game, we returned to her house. She had a five-a-side Astro pitch in her back garden. You knew she was going home to practice little skills after you had access to that.

She kicked a ball 40 yards in the air and brought it down with one touch.

Scotland's next icon

There are a lot of strong figures in Scotland.

A win against the Republic of Ireland away from next year's Women's World Cup could be achieved by a ball of energy, dynamism and attacking instinct.

Martha Thomas of Manchester United is also included. There is a list going on.

She was part of the squad that won the Euros five years ago and also played in the World Cup in France. An expected record competitive crowd will be looking at Scotland's No.9 again on Tuesday after she impressed again in the play-off semi- final win over Austria.

The Olympian said that her profile and that of her team-mates were serious. I don't think a lot of us were role models when we were younger. You guys describe us as role models, and we are very proud of that.

I was a huge fan of the Real Madrid player. Growing up, that was my role model. In terms of strong women, including my mother, I'm surrounded by strong women.

My parents' support is huge. I wouldn't be where I am now without them. They supported me from a young age so I could follow my dream of becoming a professional footballer.
