Ancient ‘fridge’ — with meat still inside — found at Roman military camp, experts say

A fridge was discovered at an ancient Roman military camp.

According to a news release from Science in Poland, the ancient fridge was found at Novae. Archaeologists said the fridge had bones, dishes, and meat.

The small bone that was found in the fridge was thought to be used as a "censor" for insect protection.

The lead archaeologist said that the discovery of suchrefrigerators are rare.

Novae was a permanent base for Roman troops in the first centuryCE. The camp was used to house Italian military recruits. The age of the fridge and its contents are not known.

Archaeologists said that the remains of walls, a collection of coins, lead and ceramic pipes, and a house with fishing weights were found at Novae.
