London's reign as the world's most connected airport came to an end in the year 2022. For three years in a row, the most connected airport was Heathrow.
There were 43,350 connections within a six-hour window on the busiest day of the year at Chicago's O'Hare. In August, it served 66 destinations. For the fourth year in a row, Chicago O'Hare was the most connected airport in the world.
Nine of the top 10 spots have been secured by the US airports following the ease in travel restrictions. Mexico City Airport, the highest ranked non-US airport, made it to the top 10 due to the fact that the country kept its borders open during the Pandemic.

Singapore Changi Airport was ranked 12th in the Asia- Pacific region. Hong Kong didn't make it into the top 50. It was in second place in the region.
The most connected airport in the Middle East and Africa isDXB. Saudi Arabia's King Khalid International Airport was ranked as the second and third airport in the world.

Even though the United States has the largest domestic aviation market in the world, the dominance of IndiGo in India has propelled Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) to 1st and 2nd place in the Delhi was ranked 6th in the world.
Denver International Airport got a boost from the presence of Southwest Airlines. Frontier Airlines is based out of Denver. Thanks to the strong presence of Southwest Airlines, Las Vegas and MCO were ranked fourth and fifth.
