It's been nearly three weeks since New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a massive fraud lawsuit against Donald Trump and his family business, and already her office is accusing the former president of playing games.

The AG's latest court filing shows that most of the named defendants had accepted service of the lawsuit.

Donald Trump and his son Eric Trump, who has been most hands-on in running the Trump Organization, were not served.

In a late September filing, the AG's office said that "gamesmanship" had blocked the way to serve the lawsuit on all the defendants.

The fact that formal service is only being completed now is because of gamesmanship by defendants and not any lack of diligence by the AG's office, according to a footnote in that late September filing.

The AG's emails requesting that she accept service on behalf of Trump were never responded to.

The AG's office did not respond to requests for comment.

According to the lawsuit, Trump inflated the value of his properties in order to get hundreds of millions of dollars in loans and tax breaks.

According to James, she intends to bring the case to trial before the end of the year.

Three former assistant attorneys general with the New York office have told Insider that Trump's side will do everything in their power to delay the case.

The investigation that preceded the lawsuit was delayed by Trump's side by filing motions and appeals.
