I was in a situation over the weekend where I had to combine two Alaska Mileage Plan accounts in my name, so I thought I would report back with my experience.
We both picked up the Alaska Airlines Visa® Business card for our businesses.
Ford and I both got approved and activated the cards. We had different experiences from there.
The first closing date for the Alaska Airlines Visa Business Card was in October of 2022. The Mileage Plan miles were posted to his account on that day.
It's similar to my experience with Bank of America, which is that miles usually post on your statement close date where you complete spending.
I completed the spending requirement on the Alaska Airlines Visa Business Card before Ford did, but I didn't think much of the miles weren't posted at the time. Sometimes an extra billing cycle is required. I assumed something was happening when Ford's miles hadn't been posted.
After logging into my Bank of America account, I was able to confirm that I had met the minimum spending requirement. I pulled up my bank statement and noticed something strange.
The number listed in the statement was not the one I provided at the time of my application.
If you don't list a frequent flyer on your credit card application, you'll get a new frequent flyer number. I remember putting the correct number down when I applied.
It was obvious to me that the miles had just been credited to a different account, but I didn't have the log-in credentials for it.
I wanted to combine my two Alaska Mileage Plan accounts so I could have more flexibility. I contacted Alaska Air on social media after I noticed the issue on Sunday.
Within minutes, I was helped by the lovelyAlexis, who offered to help with merging my Mileage Plan accounts
It might take a few days for the accounts to be merged.
This was a painless customer service interaction for airlines.
Even though I included my Mileage Plan number on my application, the miles from my new Alaska Airlines Visa Business Card was posted to a different account. Alaska Airlines was able to help resolve the problem, and my accounts were merged a day later.
Hopefully this is useful to anyone else who ends up in the same situation and wonders why their Alaska Airlines credit card welcome bonus hasn't posted.
Has anyone else had to make changes to their account? What were your experiences like?
