Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network said that Baker Mayfield will be out for a while after being diagnosed with a high ankle injury.

According to a source, he is expected to miss at least a few weeks.

After the game, he was wearing a walking boot on his foot. The starting quarterback was replaced by P.J. Walker on the final drive of the game.

Walker is expected to start at quarterback. He has two starts with Carolina.

Sam Darnold isn't ready to return from a high- ankle injury, but he is still a long-term option for the team.

In the past, he's been willing to play through injuries, starting 14 games in 2021. He started all 16 games in the past.

In spite of his struggles, he has a 71.9 passer rating when he is healthy.

The No. 1 overall pick in the draft has not lived up to expectations.
