According to multiple outlets, Christina Bobb met with Justice Department investigators Friday as part of the agency's investigation into White House documents stored at Mar-A-Lago.
The Guardian and NBC News both reported that Bobb spoke with federal investigators on Friday.
According to an August court filing from the DOJ, a Trump attorney signed a sworn certification letter on June 3 stating that all classified materials at Mar-A-Lago had been handed over to the government.
Bobb told investigators she only signed the letter because she insisted that it be rewritten to say there were no more documents left.
According to NBC, Bobb named two Trump attorneys as being involved with the documents that she gave the DOJ.
The fact that agents found more classified documents at Mar-A-Lago after the letter was signed "calls into serious question the representations made in the June 3 certification and casts doubt on the extent of cooperation in this matter."
According to the DOJ filing, after turning over some classified documents on June 3 and signing the letter, the unnamed Trump attorney said any non-classified White House documents that still remained at Mar-A-Lago were being kept in a storage room.
A source told NBC that people made Bobb the fall guy for what it was worth. She agreed to the declaration. Everyone agrees with that. What she signed is correct. She should not have been told to sign it.
39. In response to a subpoena, Bobb turned over a number of documents with classified markings. More than 11,000 non-classified ones and 103 classified ones were found by the government when it searched Mar-A-Lago itself.
Whether any of Trump's attorneys will be held responsible for their actions. The Washington Post reported that Bobb had been counseled to get his own criminal defense attorney because he claimed there were no more classified documents at Mar-A-Lago.
There will be more documents. The federal government isn't aware that Trump has more White House documents in his possession, according to multiple outlets. It is not clear if the DOJ will take any further action in order to get the remaining documents.
The DOJ is looking into the legality of Trump bringing the White House documents to Mar-A-Lago. The agency searched Mar-A-Lago in August after Trump asked a court to appoint a third-party special master to review the documents. According to the Washington Post, Christopher Kise, who was hired to help with the president's defense and favors "turn[ing] down the temperature," has clashed with other Trump attorneys who want to take a more aggressive stance. According to CNN, Kise was removed from the president's legal team after pushing the more submissive strategy. According to the New York Times, the DOJ believes there may be more documents in Trump's possession. According to the Times, Kise wanted Trump to hire a forensics team to find more documents, but the president preferred to maintain an aggressive stance towards the authorities.
