Heupel says No. 6 UT is primed for No. 3 Bama showdown (1:53)

Josh Heupel says that Tennessee is mostly concerned with their own expectations, but is ready for Alabama and the possible return of the quarterback. There is a time and a place for it.

The coach of the Alabama football team told reporters on Monday that he was hopeful that the quarterback would be ready to play on Saturday.

Young was reexamined by the training staff on Monday after missing last weekend's win over Texas A&M.

"Hopefully we'll be able to get him ready to play this week," he stated. Nobody can predict how quickly he will be able to do what he needs to do.

In Young's place, the start went to a redshirt freshman.

"I think he played with a lot of anxiety," said the Alabama coach.

He didn't allow himself to let his training guide him and trust and believe in it so he could have success executing plays. It's not possible to turn the ball over and not execute plays. Those are all things we need to improve on.

Regardless of who starts at quarterback, the entire offense needs to get better.

The Tennessee game will be the most competitive of the season for Alabama, with both teams ranked in the top 10.

The Alabama defense has given up the sixth-fewest points and yards per game in the country.
