Panthers QB Baker Mayfield (ankle) out 'least a couple weeks'

Baker Mayfield will be out at least a couple of weeks with an ankle injury, according to a league source.

The injury happened late in the first half of the game.

He wore a walking boot on his left foot when he arrived for his postgame news conference.

After the game, he said it was a bit painful. I don't know what it is. Tomorrow we'll look at that and find out. I am learning to step in the boot.

PJ Walker is expected to start for the Los Angeles Rams against the defending Super Bowl champion.

Rhule had 11 losses in his past 12 games after he was fired.

This year's slow start is due to the subpar play of the player. He had a pick-six near the end of the first half against the Rams, and his Total QBR is the second lowest after five games of any quarterback.

The only healthy quarterback on the active roster is Walker. Sam Darnold was placed on injured reserve after he injured his ankle.

According to Rhule, it was several weeks from being ready to return to the practice field.

Additional medical advice will be sought in order to make the best decision for him. He took a cut in his salary when he was traded to the Carolinas. If he played 75% of the snaps this season, he could earn some of that back.
