Antoine Griezmann: Atletico Madrid re-sign France forward on permanent deal after Barcelona loan

A new contract has been signed byAntoine Griezmann from Barcelona.

When he joined Barcelona, he was the sixth-most expensive player of all time.

He returned to Atleti on a two-year loan in the middle of last season.

He has three goals and two assists in 11 appearances this season, but only three of them have been starts.

If he played more than 45 minutes in more than 50% of their games, there was a clause in his loan contract that would have required Atleti to pay 40 million dollars for him.

In order to make sure that clause wasn't triggered, Diego Simeone has used Griezmann as a substitute after 60 minutes in eight of his 11 appearances.

On Wednesday, he could make his first appearance for Atleti Madrid since returning to the club.

The World Cup winner is the fourth-most prolific scorer in the club's history with over 100 goals in 304 appearances.

He was a part of the Wanda Metropolitano team that won three cups.
