Multiple news outlets are reporting that one of Iran's state-run TV channels was hacked on Saturday and displayed a message against Iran's Supreme Leader. According to an English language translation, the blood of our youths is on your hands. The 10-second takeover of the radio was in support of the current uprising in Iran for the rights of women, which began after 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini was arrested by Tehran's morality police and died in the hospital three days later. Authorities in Iran insist that Amini died of a heart attack, despite the fact that she was beaten for not covering her hair. The hackers, who call themselves Edalat-e Ali, also displayed their social media accounts on the screen during the interruption. There was a white mask with a black beard and green and red paint on it. Many news outlets have compared it to the Guy Fawkes mask that shows up in protests around the world. Amini is the second from the right and her photo was displayed on the screen during the hack. Both of the photos on the left and right are of Sarina Esmailzadeh, who was killed by Iranian security forces in September.
A photo from the left shows a man who was killed during a protest. According to her family, she was shot by Iran's security forces, but the Iranian government says she was shot by other protesters.
It is not clear if the hackers are a real group within Iran or if they are trying to cause regime change in Iran. It can be difficult to figure out what is happening in Iran when internet access is shut off. After weeks of protests making their way to social media, it is clear the demonstrations are very real and widespread.
Female students at Alzahra University shouted "get lost" at Iran's President while he was on the campus on Saturday. Raisi claimed that recent protests across the country were conducted byrioters.
Raisi said that they imagined they could achieve their evil goals in universities. The students and professors are alert and won't allow the enemy to realize their goals.
According toAmnesty International, at least 134 people have been killed in the protests.
The number is based on information we have received from victims' families, witnesses, human rights activists and journalists. According to a researcher withAmnesty, the real death toll is much higher.
As young people continue to take to the streets, the Iranian regime needs to be concerned that things will get out of hand quickly.
