Donald Trump acknowledged Herschel Walker had a "complicated personal history" but said he didn't think it mattered.

In a new book, "Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Break of America," Trump was interviewed by a New York Times reporter. The audio clip from the interview was uploaded to CNN Thursday.

Trump said that Walker was the best football player in Georgia's history. A college football star at the University of Georgia, Walker went on to play in the National Football League for 12 seasons.

Walker has a "complicated personal history," according to the man who cut in. Trump acknowledged that she was referring to previous allegations of domestic violence.

Ten years ago, it might have been a problem, but he does. It would have been a bigger problem then. Trump doesn't think it's a problem today.

Trump said that the world is changing.

Wolf Blitzer asked what she thought of Trump's reply.

Donald Trump believes in his role in the world changing. She said that he sees it as he has survived all kinds of scandals.

Trump is unique and others may not be able to survive the same scandals as he has. She said that Walker could benefit from being a sports star.

"We're talking about allegations of domestic violence that were in Walker's past," he said. We will find out if that is true.

More allegations have been made against Walker.

Prior to this year, Walker had acknowledged having only one child, Christian Walker. The Daily Beast reported this summer that Walker has more than one child.

According to The Daily Beast, Walker paid for a former girlfriend to have an abortion. The woman and Walker had a child together, according to the outlet. The woman told The Times that Walker asked her to get a second abortion, but she wouldn't.

Walker called The Daily Beast's report a "flat out lie" and vowed to file a lawsuit. He confirmed to NBC that he dated the woman and that if he sent her a card or money it was not for an abortion.

Walker was defended by Trump in a post on Truth Social.

Walker is running against an incumbent Democrat in a race that is important to Republicans' hopes of flipping the Senate.

The representative for Trump didn't reply immediately.
