According to The New York Times' report on Sunday, some employees at Meta think that their work makes Mark happy.

"Make Mark happy" was shortened to "MMH" according to two workers at Meta. Some employees use the acronym as a joke to refer to projects in the metaverse.

It comes at a time when Meta often reorganizes its workforce and experiences a high turnover of staff, according to The Times, which spoke to over a dozen current and former Meta workers.

Employees told The Times that some Meta workers are unhappy about the company changing its strategies on a frequent basis.

Meta didn't respond immediately to Insider's request for comment.

Meta spokesman Andy Stone said that being a cynic about new and innovative technology is easy. We believe the metaverse is the future of computing and so we are building it.

As much as 15% of the company's workforce could be affected by the "quiet layoffs" that Meta was conducting. Meta withdrew internship offers from its program in the UK and shut down its newsletter platform.

It has been a year since Facebook changed its name to Meta. The company's goal was to focus on the "metaverse", a virtual space where people can interact with each other.
