After eight months in charge, Steve Bruce has been relieved of his duties.
The ex-Manchester United defender left the Baggies' home game on Saturday.
They were in the lowest league position in over two decades.
The backroom staff of Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence and Alex Bruce are no longer with the club.
Bruce was appointed as Baggies manager on 3 February as part of a change of structure at The Hawthorns that saw the departure of head coach Val Ismael, the appointment of Ron Gourlay as chief executive and the takeover of the club by a Chinese investor.
Bruce has won promotion from the Championship to the premier league four times in his 24 years as a manager.
After a miserable end to his time atNewcastle, he took a four-month break and failed to reignite the fire.
Eight of his games were won by the Baggies.
They have only lost four times in the league this year. They have only won one of their 13 league games.
The Baggies have not won a game in the league since his last match in charge.
There were loud chants of 'Bruce out' and 'you don't know what you're doing' from Baggies fans at the end of the game.
Bruce continued to defend his position after the match.
I've been in this for a while. He told the radio station that if you've been doing it for a long time, you would like to know what you're doing.
Does it mean that I'm going to walk out? The answer is not yes. I'm determined to turn the club around and whatever happens above me is up to other people.
He was given less than two days more in the job by the hierarchy.
"The club would like to place on record its thanks to Steve Bruce and his coaching staff for their efforts since arriving in February," said a statement.
An appointment for a new manager will be made in due course.
