It has been toxic to discuss the new portrayal of Ariel in Disney's live-action remake. If there's one thing that everyone agrees on, it's that Halle Bailey's Ariel will be looked upon as a hero to many young girls.
Ariel doesn't agree.
On Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update, Ego, played by Nwodim, went to talk to Colin Jost to lower fans expectations. The princess made it clear that she isn't our salvation, but that she is a rich nepo- baby whose dad is the king of the sea, and that the only reason she is here is because her mom had sex with a tuna.
She supports the invasion of Iraq and hates the ocean.
She said it had nothing to do with the sea. I wanted to avenge 9/11.
We should be looking up to Bailey's version of the hero, but this one might not be the best one. It is hoped that The Little Mermaid will be released on May 26,23.
