Kim Jung Gi, an artist from South Korea, died at the age of 47. Kim, according to his US agent, had experienced chest pains in France as he was about to take a flight to New York and died after being taken to a hospital.

Kim was going to have a table at New York Comic-Con before he died. The table has become a memorial after fans left flowers, drawings, and signatures on the skirt.

In the pages of Young Jump Magazine, Kim's first published work as an illustrator was a story called "Funny Funny". He worked at the art studio SuperAni while also teaching art at private schools. He collaborated with writer Seung-Jin Park on his novel Tiger the Long Tail. Other collaborations would include Belgian artist Jean-David Morvan, Riot Games, and a variant cover for Civil War II.

Kim served in the Republic of Korea Army and said that he had a strong visual memory for weapons. He was known for drawing scenes with large crowds in a short period of time. He would narrate his process in front of a crowd.

He told students to imagine the memorable moment of the day and to combine mental images with what they saw while out and about. He tried to set a world record for the longest drawing by an individual. He created art depicting the living heritage of Penang.

Jim Lee and other industry professionals have paid tribute to Kim. A statement was put in a sign at his table. It was an honor to have Kim at our events. You couldn't watch him draw without being in awe, but his kindness towards his fans and peers was even more inspiring.
