Changes have been made to the Superman line of DC Comics. As Clark Kent has been on Warworld, it was his teenage son Jonathan who took over the mantle of Superman. Clark is dead, but we don't know where he is. With two Supermen on Earth, what is DC going to do? It's better to embrace that family aspect even harder than before. At New York Comic-Con, DC announced a pair of new Super books, as well as a structure change to its flagship Action Comics. Action issues in January will feature three stories about individual members of the Super- Family, including China's Super-Man Kong Kenan and a pair of unnamed twins. All the non-Clark Supers have a hoodie or jacket as part of their costume, which shows they are committed to the family idea. The first story will see an imprisoned Lex Luthor conscript Metallo to undermine the Man of Steel. The second and third arcs will be about a young Jon Kent getting the hang of his powers on the Kent family farm and Power Girl. The Triangle Era that defined Superman books during the early 90s up to the early 2000s was the inspiration for the new three-story format of Action. He said that his mission statement was "Super- Family." While keeping Superman at the forefront, we are giving everyone in the House of El their own journey.
Jon will be the star of his own series despite his father's return to Earth. Superman: Son of Kal- El was written by Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo and will be replaced by Jon Kent. Jon will fight Ultraman in the six-issue miniseries. The Earth-2: World's End miniseries will feature Val-Zod, the Superman of Earth-2 that was created by the Scotts.
With Clark back in the picture, he will be featured in a new main Superman comic by Joshua Williamson and Jamal Campbell. New baddies will be showing up to test Clark, as well as old baddies coming out of the woodwork. After spending so much time making the DC Universe go to hell, the writer confessed to being happy to get the chance to work with one of the publisher's most uplifting heroes. Superman is the best choice to lead DC into the light after the darkness of the last year. Clark Kent is going to have a fun adventure in Metropolis against his greatest villains.
Action Comics #1051 will be the first in Superman's new Family-centered era, followed by Superman in February and Jon Kent in March.
