The San Francisco Giants are expected to be one of the most aggressive teams in the free-agent market this winter.

The Giants are willing to do anything for a return to the playoffs.

The Giants have the flexibility to be involved in every option on the table.

The Giants finished the year with the highest salary total on the injured list, despite being 13th in payroll. Carlos Rodn and Brandon Belt were the highest paid players out of the lineup.

The salary of Belt and Longoria will be coming off the books, giving an already lean salary sheet an even bigger chance to improve.

The jewels of the MLB free-agent class are Judge and Turner, both of whom are likely to get at least $300 million in guarantees. The American League record for home runs in a single season was set by Judge.

Cashman said there was a pot of gold there. It's not yet known what the gold weighs, but it's a pot of gold. Good for him. It was already a large pot and will be bigger.

Turner hit free agency for the first time after posting back-to-back 20-20 sesaons. Turner might be interested in returning to the East Coast, which could raise his price among the West Coast teams looking to sign him to a long-term contract.

If the Giants strike out on the biggest names, it would not be a surprise if they focused on adding depth to the roster.
