Eberechi Eze
Eze's first goal of the season secured Crystal Palace's first win in five league games

Crystal Palace ended their winless run in the premier league with a victory over Leeds at Selhurst Park.

The visitors took the lead early on when Struijk drove in after a great effort inside the box.

Patrick Bamford forced a save out of Vicente Guaita as Crystal Palace struggled to impose themselves.

The hosts tied it at the end of the first half after Michael Olise's free- kick.

When Jordan Ayew appeared in on goal for Palace in the second half, he was met by a great challenge from the opposing player.

But Eze secured the three points with a superb strike that ran across the edge of the area before hitting the back of the net.

Palace's first win in five games moved them up to 15th and three points away from the bottom of the table.

A much-needed win for Palace

After winning one of their first seven league games, Palace were just one point above the bottom three.

The caveat, however, was that they had faced four of the traditional 'big six' in that run, so Patrick would have looked to this game as more of an indicator of how they could perform this season.

The assessment would have been concerning as they struggled to cope with the press and made sloppy mistakes.

The Eagles were good value for their win because they improved after tying the game.

The important part of the victory was centre-back Joachim Andersen, who almost single-handedly repelled anything the visitors had to offer in the second half.

Set piece woes for Leeds again

After avoiding the drop on the final day of last season, Jesse Marsch is hoping for a calmer time in his first full season at the helm.

The West Yorkshire side won their first three games of the season, but have not won in over a month.

As Palace struggled to deal with them, they began this match in dominant form and looked lively.

They failed to pick up Edouard for Olise's free-kick, and once again they were the undoing of the club.

They have conceded 20 goals from set pieces since the start of last season, with only three other teams allowing more.

In four away games so far this season, Leeds have taken just one point, and they rarely looked like scoring again after giving up the goal.
