We're thirsty for Meta Quest Pro deets because the Facebook parent company's developer conference is around the corner. We're catching up on everything we know about what's going to happen on October 11.
Meta's virtual reality solution will be called the Metaquest Pro. The device is an upgraded version of the consumer-marketed Quest. An amateur video of a prototype of a Pro was leaked several weeks ago. Thin pancake lens and pass-through technology will be used by the Pro to enhance remote work set ups and provide new solutions for on-the- job training. The price is rumored to be around $1,000, up from the $399 price of the previous version.
There is a leak of images for the Quest Pro 3 inside Meta. We might hear more about what we can expect from Meta's future consumer devices when the device is released next year. The Stinson appears to be a mixed reality device, but without eye or face tracking. It will be cheaper than the Pro.
We're likely to hear about new ways that Meta hopes people will connect and create on the platform. After being mocked for the platform's low-res graphics, Facebook posted sharper images of what it had been working on. We might be introduced to that version of the world at Connect.
The metaverse has a lot of marketing invested in it. Developers and artists can build new businesses in this space.
"Build Immersive Experiences," "create Natural Interactions," and "design for everyone" are some of the sessions that will be included in Connect. The best practices from those sessions may be useful for artists as well. For an example of Meta's existing marketing material about this topic, it's helpful to check out its not-so-useful "Are we there yet?" series, in which the company employed Keke Palmer to chat with Victoria Young of virtual sculpting duo YONK about her work in The fact that you can create in the metaverse is communicated in the episode, even though it doesn't explain how you can. The metaverse might just break through to new markets once it becomes a hub of creative expression.
