A passenger was charged more than 39,000 dollars for a 15-minute ride after his destination was accidentally set to Australia.

The story was reported by the Manchester Evening News.

After finishing his job, Oliver Kaplan ordered an ride-sharing service in a city near Manchester, England, to meet some friends.

Kaplan said that the ride was between $10 and $11. He woke up the next morning to an email from the ride hailing app saying he had insufficient funds to pay his bill.

On the way home from work, Kaplan ordered an ride-sharing service like he does most nights. The driver picked me up and took me to where I was supposed to go.

He said it was a 15-minute journey and the bill was between $10 and $11.

When he woke up the next day, he was surprised to find a charge of over 40 grand.

He used the app to contact the company. According to Kaplan, the person he spoke to thought the bill was high because the drop-off location had been incorrect.

Kaplan was charged a sum of money after the price was adjusted.

Kaplan told the Manchester Evening News that if he had that amount of money, he would have had to chase them for a refunds.

Insider asked the company for comment made outside normal working hours.

The company told the Manchester Evening News that they immediately adjusted the fare after learning of the issue. We're very sorry for any disruptions.
