The most popular fast-food chain in the US is so popular that there is almost always a line of cars waiting to get in.
A study done by Intouch Insight in partnership with Q shows that it takes customers eight minutes and 29 seconds to go through the drive-through at the chicken-sandwich chain.
The longest line of the chains studied made Chick-Fil-A a victim of its own success.
Across the 10 chains studied, the average number of cars in the drive-through line was 2.76, but the average number of cars in the drive-through line at Chick-Fil-A was almost five times that. The study found that Chick-Fil-A had the fastest average time of just one minute and 47 seconds.
Mystery diners at restaurants across the US placed more than 1,500 drive-through orders. The study looked at the top 10 fast-food chains.
There were more cars in line than at the other chains studied and wait times were almost twice as high as in 2019.
It took on average five minutes and two seconds for customers to get their food at the drive-through at the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. The line had just under two cars in it.
Carl's Jr. and Hardee's had the shortest drive-through lines.
The study found that drive-through customers were the most likely to be given the correct order. Wendy's received 21% of orders that were partially wrong.
Wendy's had the lowest satisfaction rate, while Carl's Jr. and Chick- fil-A had the highest.
During the Pandemic, fast-food became more reliant on drive-tries and delivery, and many have been remodeling their restaurants and drive-tries to cater to the growing number of diners who prefer to eat their food off-site.
Starbucks is doubling down on drive-tries, and casual dining chains like Sweetgreen and Applebee's are also opening drive-tries.
