A Mississippi woman who said she was fired for wearing a "Scream" mask to frighten children at a daycare later apologized online.
A woman in a Halloween mask was fired from her job at a child care center in Mississippi after videos of her making fun of toddlers on social media.
In the video, the children can be seen crying and hiding from the woman as she chases them, but in an apology video, she says it wasn't "ill-intentioned."
Although she acknowledges that she is the person behind the mask, she claims that her coworkers were aware of her plan to scare children. Four employees were fired as a result of the stunt.
The teachers wanted to know if I would do it or if they could use the mask to get their class to listen or clean up. She apologized and said she was not a child abuser.
She had worked at the daycare for four years before she was terminated. There is a worker laughing in the videos.
I didn't go in there at my own will. I did not go in there with the intention of traumatizing those children. She apologized and said she expected them to react the way she did.
After I left the room, I went back into the classroom and said "CeeCee got the monster" It is not returning. They would give me hugs. I've known those kids their entire lives.
Some parents don't blame the facility owner for the things that happened in the videos.
A parent of one of the terrified children told the local newspaper that the owner and director of the facility were unaware of the situation.
One video was taken as early as September and the owner of the daycare didn't know about it until Wednesday.
She told the newspaper that she didn't hear about it until September.
Those people are no longer with us. They were no longer employed by the company. I didn't know they were doing that when I was here. I've never condoned that. It has been taken care of.
