I don't think it's a good idea to ban AirTags because it's the sort of rule that would be meaningless. A ban by any airline is simply trying to avoid accountability rather than promoting safety.

Lufthansa Has Not Banned Apple AirTags

The miniature devices that you can drop inside a bag and use your phone to follow the location of your bag were banned by the airline. I am proud to say that I have four of these coin-size devices in my possession.

According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), AirTags and other tracking devices can't be placed in a checked bag if transmit mode is enabled. The point of these devices is to relay location information.

There has been no change in the airline's policy regarding AirTags, according to a spokesman for the company.

A Lufthansa spokesperson tells me there is no change to the carrier’s policy on AirTags.

I don't think it's a good idea to ban such items, but I don't think it's likely. How would it be possible for the airline to enforce that? I think that the act of banning these would make more people disobey the rule.

CONCLUSION

Air tags are allowed. There is no change in policy according to the airline. At least for now, you can keep placing AirTags or other baggage- tracking devices inside your luggage. I think the customers will ignore the ban, as it is not something they will care about.
