Why Joe Burrow is a reliable fantasy QB (0:28)

Field Yates talked about Joe's performance against the Dolphins. There is a 0:28

Two of the game's top young quarterbacks have had signature moments in games between Cincinnati and Baltimore.

The highlight of Lamar Jackson's season was a 47-yard touchdown run that featured a spin move from a video game. Two years later, the Cincinnati quarterback set a franchise record with 525 passing yards in a victory. The most passing yards by a single team in an entire season was by the Ravens.

Sunday's game between the Ravens and Cincinnati is expected to be a close one. They could play a big part in who wins the division.

Jackson wanted to make a statement.

• Why Donald, Parsons are elite

• Can Browns fix endgame lapses?

• RB Brantley embraces shot with Falcons

• Lawrence, Mills still proving themselves

The winner is likely to be decided by the quarterback position. Jackson is playing at a higher level than he was last year. What happens Sunday and the rest of the season could affect the future of the AFC North.

The quarterback is a big part of how the team goes according to the coach. He needs to play his best in the big moments.

He will be able to extend his contract next year. He is 16th in the league in total QBR and 17th in completion percentage. He's seventh in the league in passing yards and eighth in touchdown passes. He has been hit 16 times, which is third most in the league.

Jackson has a fifth-year option on his contract with the Ravens. The early returns suggest that it was a wise move to bet on himself. Jackson is tied for fifth in QBR, tied for first with 11 touchdown passes and the only quarterback in the top 25 in rushing, as his 316 yards puts him ninth in the league.

With the Pittsburgh Steelers at the beginning of the Kenny Pickett era and the Cleveland Browns yet to see what Deshaun Watson brings to their offense, he's currently serving an 11-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy. The narrative of how the AFC North shakes out will be determined by how these two play.

BurROW's first game against Baltimore was not a good one.

One of the toughest games of his career was as a rookies in 2020. He had a career-low 4.2 Total QBR in Week 5.

A season-ending knee injury happened six weeks after that. He rebounded in '21 as one of the NFL's most effective quarterbacks, leading the league in completion percentage over expectation.

In February, the team made its first Super Bowl appearance in 25 years, but lost to the Los Angeles Rams.

Taylor said it was a chance for him to have a season to look back and learn how to play defense. He wants to build off of the great year he had last year.

Joe Mixon said that the meetings against Baltimore have shown Burrow's ability to extend plays. In crucial moments, his composure has been on display.

He's going to be that guy. He is going to have a killer mindset. He just looks like he's about to deliver if you look at him or see him in the huddle.

The two games against Baltimore last year were won by Burrow. He led Cincinnati's comeback in the 7th week of the season. In the next two months, he threw for 525 yards. His total QBR from that game was a career high.

Burrow said at the beginning of the season that he doesn't care about the numbers as long as the team is winning. The third-year quarterback's performances have ranged from a four-turnover outing in a Week 1 loss to Pittsburgh to a steady showing in last week's win over the Miami Dolphins.

There is a version of himself that he likes the most.

It was the one that threw for 530 yards.

Jackson has changed the trajectory of the Ravens over the past 10 years more than any other person.

After winning the Super Bowl, Baltimore was stuck in a state of disrepair. Jackson took over as the starting quarterback in the middle of the year and the Ravens went on to win the title.

The Baltimore Ravens have been one of the best teams in the league since Jackson took over as the starter. Jackson's record as a starter is third among active quarterbacks since the beginning of the year.

Jackson has been more of a one man attack in the future than he was in the past.

Jackson has accounted for almost all of the team's total yards despite injuries to the offensive line. The Ravens' running backs have 251 rushing yards, which is 30th in the league, despite starting three different left tackles.

Jackson has carried a team that has the league's 30th ranked defense. His 13 total touchdown are more than all but one other offense. Jackson has produced the longest run and the second longest pass this season.

Jets coach Robert Saleh said that he's dynamic. If you asked me, he was very deserving of everything he asked for. You have to worry about everything, but his arm, his legs, his mind, his tenacity.

The identity of Baltimore's offense has changed because Jackson has made significant strides throwing the ball. The Ravens used to be the most run heavy team in the league, but Jackson has dropped back to pass less often.

Jackson is moving around to buy time instead of rushing down the field. He has become more effective at reading defenses.

The hard thing with him is that he improved.

Contract negotiations will be suspended until after the season. Jackson doesn't have any guaranteed money beyond his base salary without an extension. Baltimore is still tied to the idea of Jackson as its quarterback.

John Harbaugh said before the start of the season that it would happen. Lamar is going to play quarterback for a long time.

In the first year he's eligible to sign a contract extension, he could make a lot of money. Mike Brown pays a premium for good quarterbacks. In 2005, Cincinnati gave quarterback Carson Palmer a six-year extension worth up to $119 million, making him one of the game's highest-paid players.

Before the start of this season, Brown acknowledged that he would have to write a future paycheck, and that he knew it would have to be done before the end of the year.

The quarterback is the most important issue right now, according to Brown. It's not ripe yet, but it's on the way.
