MarkMeadows, the former chief of staff, was the most disappointing person during the Capitol riot, according to a former White House deputy press Secretary.
Sarah Matthews, one of several aides who resigned on January 6, said on Friday's episode of "Playbook Deep Dive" that she was often seen as an "innocent" person.
"He wouldn't speak up and say what we all knew and would sometimes just sit back and I heard that from multiple people in general at the White House," she said. It felt like he was looking out for himself.
The text messages made it clear to Matthews that he was getting bombarded by people telling him to get the situation under control.
The January 6 committee received thousands of texts from Donald Trump Jr. advising them to condemn the rioters.
CNN reported on September 15 that Meadows complied with the subpoena.
The lawyer did not reply to the request for comment.
