Our entire team just finished The Testaments by Margaret Atwood as our first Of the Month Club pick (we'll be broadcasting our thoughts from Emily's house tonight on Instagram Live from @emilyschuman). Catch our Live for next month's pick (hint: It's a show!), but in the meantime, we're all cracking the covers on new books. Here's what our team is reading now, and the books we've loved this year:

What I'm Reading Now: Three Women by Lisa Taddeo

Favorite Way to Read: I'm a big proponent for e-books, and love settling into bed at night with a thriller (my go-to genre) loaded onto my iPad. It's the perfect way to decompress after a long day or slower mornings when I don't have to race to a meeting since nothing feels more indulgent than staying in bed and continuing where I left off the night before.

What I'm Reading Now: Maybe You Should Talk to Someone: A Therapist, HER Therapist, and Our Lives Revealed by Lori Gottlieb and Rules of Civility by Amor Towles

Favorite Way to Read: To me, the most luxurious way to spend an afternoon is to walk to a bookstore (I love Book Soup on Sunset and Skylight in Los Feliz), buy a book, and walk to either a coffee shop or wine bar to crack it open right then and there, while the excitement of buying it still feels fresh. I used to love reading in bed, but after my sleep therapist suggested I stop (beds should be reserved for sleeping and intimacy, if you struggle with insomnia), but when I read at home, I'm usually curled up in a chair in my living room I got expressly for reading binges, with a snack, a beverage, and my cat nearby.

What I'm Reading Now: Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens and The Wisdom of the Enneagram: The Complete Guide to Psychological and Spiritual Growth for the Nine Personality Types by Don Richard Riso

Favorite Way to Read: Honestly, snuggled up in bed. I love a late-night power session when I can't put a book down (it helps that I'm a night owl!). Justin and I opted to have our bedroom TV-free for this reason, as I get easily distracted when I'm reading.

Top 3 Books I've Loved This Year (So Far): This Will Only Hurt A Little by Busy PhillipsTalking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

What I'm Reading Now: Educated by Tara Westover (my book club is a liiiiittle behind!)

Favorite Way to Read: I do my best binge-reading on the couch with very few distractions. If the book is reeeally good, I'll forget to eat dinner, walk the dog, or even leave the house.

Top 3 Books I've Loved This Year (So Far):

Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll
Less by Andrew Sean Greer(Jess also loved this one!)
David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell

What I'm Reading Now: Girl by Edna O'Brien

Favorite Way to Read: Like Jess, I prefer to be completely snuggled into bed before opening a book. Growing up, I would always head to my bedroom for any sort of reading or writing, and it's a habit that's stuck with me. No matter the time of day, unless I'm on a plane, if a book is open, I'm laying on top of my bed with a blanket thrown over me and will stay there until the book is read cover to cover. I also require complete silence. People who can read with music on absolutely blow my mind!

Top 3 Books I've Loved This Year (So Far):

What I'm Reading Now: Saga graphic novels by Brian K. Vaughan, Pet Sematary by Stephen King and Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo

Favorite Way to Read: I tend to have several books going at once and I split my "reading" between paper and audiobooks (since moving to L.A. I have yet to escape a commute that clocks in at under 45 minutes). When at home, I tend to read before bed until I pass out with the light on, a technique I have perfected over the years as it's been my go-to since primary school. Bonus: In October I always add a few horror books to my reading list for the month (and dim the light on my nightstand just a little bit more to set the mood, which doesn't help with the passing out).

Top 3 Books I've Loved This Year (So Far):

What I'm Reading Now: Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream by James Platt

Favorite Way to Read: I love reading in the comfort of my own home! If I truly had it my way, my perfect situation would look like Saturday, no plans, raining, fireplace on, fresh hot cup of coffee, crawled up on the couch, no one home, reading my book. MY DREAM!
