  • Two people were killed and six others were injured in a stabbing spree in Las Vegas.

  • The man told police he stabbed people because he thought a group of showgirls were laughing at him.

  • He wanted other groups of people to stab in order to let the anger go.

The man accused of killing two people and injuring six others in a Thursday stabbing spree on the Las Vegas strip told police that he was moved to violence after a group of women refused to take a photo with him.

Yoni Barrios told police that he used a knife on people because he wanted to let the anger out. According to a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department report obtained by Insider, he said he hoped police would shoot him.

The Wynn Las Vegas hotel is where Barrios stabbed eight people. Two of the victims were killed as a result of their wounds.

Officials said that three of the victims were in critical condition.

Barrios said he traveled to Las Vegas from California the day before the attack to stay with a friend. Barrios moved to Las Vegas after his friend told him he couldn't stay there.

Barrios went to the mall to inquire about a ride back to his home state and then stopped at the Wynn to inquire about a job. He told police that he asked the janitor at the hotel to contact ICE because he wanted to return to his native country. Authorities say Barrios tried to sell his knives at the Wynn.

He told police that he encountered a group of women dressed as showgirls on the sidewalk and asked to take a photo with them. Barrios told the women he was a chef and took one of his knives with him.

Barrios was angry because the women declined to take the photo due to the odd request. He thought the women were making fun of his clothes. He chased after the other showgirls with his knife after he stabbed one of them.

The woman he stabbed in the chest was identified by police as DiGiovanni.

Barrios said he wanted to let the anger out after attacking the showgirls.

The surviving victim told police that Barrios apologized before he stabbed him.

Barrios is being held without bail and will be back in court on Tuesday.
