One of the 1972 Lionesses, Wendy Owen, told Radio 5 Live that the people on Serena's side clapped when they met them. They stopped what they were doing when we arrived at the side of the pitch. That was great.

The 50th anniversary of the England women's team coincides with the tradition of legacy numbers in which players who have represented the country at a senior level receive their own unique number.
The matchday shirt numbers will be announced in November.
