She discovered Fat Bear Week during her summer of bears.

In the summer of 2020, there was a bear that took some chocolate from her garage, as well as other bear encounters in her neighborhood. She didn't care. She lost her father in March. She thought of her father when she thought of the bear. He was called Pop because he was always around. She adopted a dog called Bear.

It was a poetic invitation.

It felt like a poetic invitation when I saw Fat Bear Week. She is a correspondent for the Anchorage Daily News for this year's fat bear week. The winner of the first match was announced yesterday in the Daily News. Some of the biggest people in the world come out to play.

Fat Bear Week is a popularity contest for brown bears in the national park. The park and its bears were promoted in a fun way. The event has become a pop culture phenomenon since then. A top bear will be crowned on "Fat Bear Tuesday" in October. Fans who are devoted to their favorite bears make their case through passionate pitches and campaign posters in Facebook Groups that stay active all year. Bears with fan-favorite pages.

The tournament is for bears. The bulk is needed to get them through a cold winter. Some of their fans have been helped by the bears. Fans bring their love of bears with them to share with their families, at work, and even into some of life's biggest milestone.

Fat Bear Week was discovered by a children's librarian who was stuck at home during the Pandemic. Bacino was working from home and trying to keep her children entertained. She watched the live stream of the national park. You feel like you are travelling when you watch nature on a live camera. Being in the woods calms you down a bit.

Bacino was a big fan of Fat Bear. The buttons were made for him. FBOTUS stands for "Fattest Bear of the United States" and the buttons read "Otis for FBOTUS". She is the youth services guide at the Anythink library and has created an experience zone for Fat Bear week. It has a laptop that can be used to watch the live stream of the brown bears eating salmon at the falls. There is a laptop for voting, printed information about why it is important for the bears to plump up, and campaign posters for some of the top candidates. The poster of Otis, a four-time champion, reads, "an eater you can trust."

Bacino baked cookies for Otis when he won the tournament. Bacino doesn't think they came out looking like a bear. "They definitely looked larger than life."

I can't say they looked like bears. They looked big.

Bacino loves Otis. She doesn't know who she's rooting for the most. She says that she identifies with the mama bears who are raising pups.

She will keep the conversation going with her oldest son after the competition is over and he is seven years old. It gives me an opportunity to talk to him about climate change and the fact that there are still bears out in the woods. She hopes it's a lesson in cause and effect. She says that what we do affects the water and the fish.

Holly is one of the most well-known mama bears in the area. Holly had several litters over the years and her most recent one went off on its own. Holly was able to focus on her own needs this summer because of that.

Some of the bears are best described by fans. Jo Ely wrote a song for Holly that was based on Abba's " Dancing Queen"

Ely has a version of the song that says, "She can fish, she can fight, and she can watch that scene." Holly is a strong contender this year after winning the title in 2019.

Ely got her love for writing parodies from her older brother. Jo's brother included her love of fat bears into her wedding in 2020 to acknowledge Ely's husband for supporting her "when she's rooting for fat bears on the internet."

Ely won a competition as part of a Facebook group. The winner of the $10 buy-in was given the choice of which charity to support. Fat Bear Week was put together by the nonprofit organization that partners with the national park and preserve.

The charity section of the Facebook Group has become too large. The total number of members is 28.7 thousand. It still has a sense of community according to members. Some fans have decided to start their own brackets. There is a charity tournament going in Alaska. She wants to raise money to buy local salmon that will be given to a homeless shelter.

She uses her writing for the Daily News to campaign for Holly. She wrote earlier that she would like to see fat ladies find their way to the crown.

I don't judge on fatness alone. The main character energy is what I want. They have a fat story. Holly has a very fat story about being a mother and caring for her child. Holly raised an abandonedcub with her othercubs. She says that it has special meaning for Eriksen, who wrote about being a Korean adoptee. It says a lot about who we are when we see the bears and tell their stories. We value what we do and vote metaphorically.

Each day until October 11th, you can vote for Fat Bear Week at Explore.org.
