'The Midnight Club' just scared the crap out of a Guinness World Record

I almost fell off my couch because of the many jump scares in The Midnight Club.

In one episode, the series scored a Guinness World Record for the most jump scares in a single episode. There are 17 spooky stories. At New York Comic Con, a GWR official presented Flanagan with an official certificate.

Eight young people are in the Midnight Club. They sneak into the library and tell each other spooky stories in order to scare their friends but also to reveal more about themselves.

In the first episode of the series, Natsuki tells a story about a school girl ghost that will not stop scaring a boy if he tries to walk down the street. The scene features 17 jump scares, some in hilarious rapid succession, a feat called out by Flanagan and Fong through the character Spencer in a joyously self-awareness moment.

Spencer told Natsuki to be careful. Someone can bang pots and pans. It's just startling. It is lazy as well.

Turn the volume down if you can't handle jump scares.
