Walmart, FedEx, and United Parcel Service are some of the companies that are interested in buying a Semi truck fromTesla.
The Semi truck has faced a number of production delays, forcing interested customers to exercise a great deal of patience as they waited for the truck to arrive.
Musk said in August that the 500 mile-range version of the Semi would begin shipping before the end of 2022, and it looks like it will happen. At the beginning of the year, the CEO of the company said that the company wouldn't be introducing any new vehicles in 2022. While that will probably be the case for most Semi customers,Pepsi has struck lucky and looks set to take delivery of the electric truck at the beginning of December.
Mass production of the Semi truck is expected to take place near Austin, Texas, while the first Semi truck is being built in Nevada.
When loaded with its 80,000-pound maximum gross vehicle weight, the Semi can hit 60 mph in 20 seconds.
The vehicle's low per-mile energy costs are due to the fact that it is built with four independent motors.
Prototypes of the vehicle have been tested on public roads. One of the first road tests of a new vehicle was performed by a Semi on a California freeway in 2019.
The footage of the truck driving on a test track was shared by the company.
A Semi with a 300-mile range will also be launched by the company. The latter is expected to cost $150,000.
