Alabama's Bryce Young a game-time decision vs. Texas A&M, Nick Saban says

There's no structural damage to Young's throwing shoulder and he threw some in practice Wednesday, but the final decision on Young's playing status will be made by the coach.

That will be a medical decision. We have some time left, and I would like to talk to him more. The only one who knows how he feels is him.

He is a great competitor. We will find out where he is on game day.

The plan was for Young to rest his shoulder and not throw on Thursday.

If he throws a lot this week, it won't get better. It is going to make it worse. The best chance that he has is if you hold off as much as you can.

Young left the Arkansas game in the second quarter after landing awkwardly on his shoulder after scrambling toward the sideline. Young went back to the field. He walked off the field with his right arm in the air. Young was taken to the locker room after visiting the injury tent. He did not return to the game in the third quarter.

"There's nothing wrong with his rotator cuff, nothing that's going to keep him out long term," he said. It's too early to make a decision, but we hope to get him back this week.

The Alabama quarterback for the Arkansas game was a red shirt freshman. He ran for 91 yards and scored a touchdown. After Arkansas scored 23 unanswered points to cut the lead to 28-23, his 77-yard run to the 3-yard line gave Alabama some breathing room.

They both took reps this week. Young has been limited in his ability to throw the ball.

"Bryce has done everything else, gotten all the reads, done the team runs, and that's all I can say." We haven't allowed him to throw a lot.

The team dynamic won't change much if Young isn't able to play.

The players trust and believe in the leader of the team, and that's why they respect and trust him, according to the coach. I don't think our players won't perform well whenMilroe is in there. They trust him because he does a lot of good things. I think it's not a problem if he's in there. Texas A&M are better on defense than any other team we've played so far, so whether we can execute well enough is important.

Young has passed for more than 1,200 yards and scored more than 15 points. He has three touchdown runs. Young is 18-2 as Alabama's starter. The only game he lost was to Texas A&M.

Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher was furious after Alabama's Nick Saban said at a speaking engagement that Texas A&M "bought" the players. Fisher said that everyone should dig into how God did his deal and that he was anarcissist.

"Our players don't give a s--- about it, and this game isn't about any of that, and our players don't care either way," he said. The game is about the goals we want to accomplish as a team and the value we create for ourselves. That's the reason this game is important.
