Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment gave us our first look at the animated Mario movie. During New York Comic Con, a Nintendo Direct was created.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie Nintendo Direct kicks off with an introduction from Shigeru Miyamoto, Chris Meledandri, Chris Pratt, and Jack Black, who confirmed that the animation will be complete next week. The trailer starts with a city being attacked by Bowser before moving on to Mario and his adventure in the Mushroom Kingdom. There is a bit of Luigi at the end.

The Super Mario Bros. video game series will be turned into a movie by Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment. While series creator Shigeru Miyamoto was a producer on the film from the start and Nintendo acquired a film studio during this movie's production, the September 2021 Nintendo Direct, where its shocking all-star cast was revealed, was the most talked about announcement.

In that Direct, we learned that Chris Pratt is Mario, that Charlie Day is Luigi, and that Kevin Michael Richardson is Kamek. At the time of the announcement, they all felt like odd choices, and from this trailer, we know what they sound like.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie will hit theaters in the US and Japan on April 7, 2023 and April 28, 2023, respectively.
