According to a statement provided to Forbes and other outlets, the company decided to place the partnership under review after trying to resolve the situation privately.

Adidas took a not so subtle dig at West, who has been mired in controversy recently and told off his other most notable corporate partner Gap last month, saying he wanted to end the partnership.

According to Forbes calculations, West will likely lose his billionaire status if he quits with the sportswear giant.

Without the partnership with Adidas, West's net worth would plummet to less than $1 billion, according to Forbes.

The world's second-wealthiest man, Bernard Arnault, was accused of causing the death by West, who wore a "White Lives Matter" shirt at his fashion show in Paris.
