There are more details about the upcoming Pixel Tablet that were released after the launch of the new flagship phone from the company. The search giant first revealed it was working on the device at I/O in May, and today, Rose Yao announced some key features.
The biggest is a magnetic wireless charging speaker dock that is designed to allow the tablet to transform into a smart display. You can control your smart home from the Home app when it's docked and it looks like a Nest Hub Max. With the use of Amazon's charging docks, the Fire tablets can be used as smart displays similar to the ones found on the Echo Show.
The tablets will be powered by the same processor as the phones. The interface will be based on the design language. The tablet has a ceramic coating applied to it's aluminum body to give it a porcelain-style finish
Since the company said it was done with the form factor, the first thing that came to mind was the Pixel Tablets. In the past five years, there have been a number of collaborations between the company and other manufacturers of tablets, first with the other manufacturers and then with the company's own branded tablets.
The follow-up devices didn't fare as well as the first ones. Their problems were mostly software based, with the exception of the Pixel Slate, which was beset by bugs.
There have been long-standing problems with theAndroid tablets. The company has been working with app developers to get more apps for tablets, since the company's latest update was packed with features for large screen devices. We have had our hopes dashed before.
