Collins told Anderson that he signed with the Giants.

Collins said he will join the team in London for their game against the Packers on Sunday, but it's not clear if he will play.

On March 10, Collins became a free agent after the Washington Commanders parted ways with him.

The move was likely motivated by the salary cap, according to John Keim. Collins was due to count for $16.2 million against the cap in 2022, the last year of his contract, when he was released.

Keim said that the Commanders tried to lower Collins' cap number but couldn't.

Collins was originally selected by the Giants in the second round of the 2015 NFL draft out of Alabama, and he's spent seven years in the league.

Collins was one of the top safeties in the league during his time in New York, earning three Pro Bowl nods and one First-Team All-Pro selection.

He finished third in the NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2016 after setting career highs in tackles, intercepts, sacks, and passes defended.

Collins signed a six-year, $84 million contract with Washington after playing in the Pro Bowl three times.

During his three years with the Commanders, Collins didn't add to his Pro Bowl count, but he was still a productive player.

Collins missed nine games in 2020 because of an injury he sustained in the previous year.

Collins missed four games last season due to a foot injury, but still put up 81 tackles, three sacks and two picks.

Collins was called upon to play some linebacker last season because of Washington's problems at that position.

He was more attractive to teams on the free-agent market due to hisVersatility.

The Giants were able to land Collins and beef up their ability to stop the run.

Collins went back to where it all began for him when he signed with the Giants.

First-year head coach Brian Daboll has the Giants exceeding expectations with a 3-1 record thanks largely to hard-nosed play, and Collins should be able to help.

Collins has the ability to provide quality snaps and help control the opposing running game even though he isn't a Pro Bowl caliber player.
