The bout between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn has been put off.

The British Boxing Board of Control's decision to withdraw their sanctioning was procedurally flawed.

There is still a legal issue between the Board and the promoter.

Benn said at the media workout that he was a clean fighter.

Thirty years after their fathers fought, Chris and Benn were scheduled to fight at a catchweight of 157 lbs.

Both fighters' camp said in a statement on Wednesday that they wanted the fight to go ahead, despite Eddie Hearn's attempts to overturn the decision of the British Boxing Board of Control.

The fight won't be sanctioned by a new body.

It's been done before and I don't think I agree with it. We don't want to run rogue and come up with an alternate plan.

"We don't believe that it is in the fighters' interests for those to be pursued at such a late stage, or in the wider interests of the sport," said the Matchroom statement.

It said that a full investigation would now need to take place.

In August, Benn returned an adverse analytical finding for the fertility drug clomifene.

Clomifene can be used to boost testosterone levels in men, but it is not allowed inside or outside of a competition.

UK Anti-Doping is the Board's official anti-doping partner and is a member of the World Anti-doping Agency.

Kalle Sauerland said on Wednesday that both camps had known of the drug test results for several weeks and that the fight would go on.

The most important person from our side was the one who discussed it. He spoke to Benn directly and was happy to keep going.

Matchroom and their broadcasters are of the opinion that Benn is not a cheat.

The Board have no reason to suspend or call off the fight because they don't recognize VADA.

There's more to come.
