While Meta and TikTok are competing to be the premium social media / metaverse company making virtual or augmented reality hardware,HTC is reminding everyone that it has a place in the game as well. It promised to "go small or go home" without giving any more information.
It has been a year since the Vive Flow, the first consumer virtual reality headset that looked like sunglasses, was released. The Flow is referred to as the "first" headset made under Project Proton. Our best guess is that it is a second- generation Flow that is smaller, more stable, and home to a bigger app community.
The approach would be different from Meta and Byte Dance. ByteDance just introduced the Pico 4 virtual reality headset, which has the same specifications as the consumer-grade Metaquest 2 and emphasizes activities like fitness and gaming. The Meta Quest Pro is expected to be announced on October 11th. The Vive Focus 3 is a powerful virtual reality headset that can be used by businesses and location based entertainment. The original Flow was designed to appeal to people who don't really want a traditional virtual reality headset.
It seems like we will know more about the details soon.
