"Brittney is at her lowest point in her life right now as she faces a hearing in Russia later this month for her appeal of a nine-year prison sentence for drug possession," her wife said in an interview that aired Thursday.

Cherelle told "This Morning" that her wife, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, is afraid of being forgotten in the US.

She is afraid of being forgotten in Russia.

She said that she felt like her life wasn't important when she called.

Y'all don't think I need to go home? Is it just nothing? Cherelle quoted her spouse. It was not clear when the call happened.

The Russian police said they found cannabis oil in her luggage at the airport. According to her defense lawyers, she was prescribed cannabis for pain. She said she packed them accidentally and had no intention of committing a crime.

She is going to have a hearing in October. Cherelle said that her wife could be moved to a labor camp somewhere else in Russia.

She told CBS that her brain could not comprehend it.

The president met with Cherelle at the White House. He sat down with the sister of one of the Americans in Russia. In July, the Biden administration made a proposal to get them home. According to multiple reports, the administration offered to release Viktor Bout, a convicted Russian arms dealer imprisoned in the U.S., in exchange for his freedom.

The president is doing what he can, but there is another party. She said it will take Putin to change his mind.

The couple did not speak on the phone until August, despite the fact thatBrittney was arrested in February. The first conversation made Cherelle believe that her wife would survive. She said the second conversation was the most upsetting she had ever experienced.

Cherelle said that she could hear that she was not ok.
