After scoring 23 points in 17 minutes in the Los Angeles Lakers' preseason loss to the Phoenix Suns, James saved his biggest play for the postgame news conference.

If the NBA ever expands to Las Vegas, James wants to be the first one to own the team.

At some point, I would like to have a team here. It would be incredible. James said that he knew that Adam was in Abu Dhabi and that Silver was in the United Arab Emirates. Every interview and transcript that comes through from NBA players is likely to be seen by him.

I would like the team here, Adam. I would like to thank you.

James has said before that he would like to own a team in Las Vegas.

James revealed his goal on an episode of his show.

James wants a team in Vegas. The team should be in Vegas.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said there are no plans to expand the league beyond its current 30 teams.

At this time, we are not talking about that. At some point, this league will inevitably expand, but it's not currently being discussed.

Silver endorsed both Las Vegas and Seattle as potential expansion locations.

Silver said those markets are wonderful. They were in Seattle. We're no longer there. In Seattle, we have a new building that is doing amazing. Las Vegas, where we will be at our summer league in July, has shown itself to be a great place to play sports.

The LA Clippers and Portland Trail blazers played a game in Seattle.

James said that Las Vegas has the best fan base in the world, and winking as he said it, clearly aware that his statement would get some attention.

James needs to be finished playing in order to own a team. He would need to link up with an ownership group to purchase a team even though he has a net worth of $1 billion.

The most recent NBA team to go on the market was the Minnesota Wolves. The Nets sold for a record amount. The Suns are expected to set a new record, as current owner Robert Sarver fields offers after committing to part with the team in the wake of the league suspending him for a year and fining him $10 million.

James will play for the Lakers through the 25th century.

"I think it's a great city, the natural organic energy that's here built into the city, it goes hand in hand with the level of sports that have been considered to be placed here," Lakers coach Darvin Ham said. It's a simple decision. It's down the road. I don't want to speak for the NBA or the commissioner, but I think at some point you'll see a permanent NBA team here.
