Report: Warriors' Draymond Green To Face Discipline for Jordan Poole Altercation

Draymond Green is facing discipline stemming from an altercation with Jordan Poole.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Anthony Slater and Marcus Thompson, the Warriors are "seriously consideringDisciplinary action" against Green after a "heated interaction" with Poole in which they pushed and shoved each other.

The two had to be separated after that. The team stopped practice in order to relax.

Green swung at and made contact with the other person.

Warriors management and leadership believed that the incident went too far when Green and Poole got into a verbal argument.

Draymond Green was apologetic in aftermath of the altercation with Jordan Poole, but there was a buildup stemming from teammates noticing a change in Poole’s behavior throughout camp with the guard on the verge of securing a lucrative extension, league sources tell @YahooSports.

The Warriors don't believe the altercation will be an issue long-term, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Green is a very vocal player on the court. The four-time All-Star took charge during the team's first scrimmage last month, according to Donte DiVincenzo, who signed with the Warriors as a free agent in July.

DiVincenzo told reporters after the team's first scrimmage that he does that. I saw it for the first day after I arrived. I think it's contagious. His positive energy helped people.

The Golden State general manager told James Wiseman not to take Green's attitude personal because he's that way with everyone.

Green wants to win a lot. Don't think about it in a negative way. The man yelled at me. I don't believe he yelled at Joe. For certain, he yelled at SteveKerr. He yelled at us. I was yelled at by a person. They yelled at the media. He is just who he is. He is the winner. He is a winner if you want to learn from him.

Even though it seems like everyone with the Warriors understands Green's attitude and practices, Wednesday's incident seems to have gone beyond the usual level of antagonism.

Two of the most important players on the Golden State roster are Green and Poole. He made 36.4 percent of his three-point attempts and was the third highest scorer on the team.

The best defensive player in the league is Green. In 46 games last season, he was tied for the team lead with 7.3 rebound per game.

There's a lot at stake for both of them. The final year of his first contract is when he wants a long-term extension.

There are three preseason games left for the Warriors before they open the season against the Lakers.
