The current meta quest 2 is said to be twice as powerful as the rumored meta quest 3. There are some intriguing clues that suggest the rumors may be true.
The rumors began after the leak of the blueprints for the Quest 3. He claimed in a second video that he had been told that the Quest 3 would be powered by a chip that hasn't been announced.
When the most powerful Android flagships were released in 2020, the most powerful of them were powered by the XR2 Gen 1. The performance of the Adreno 650 on the graphics side of that chip was double that of the Adreno 540 on the same chip. The original headsets were powered by that chip.
Most flagship devices on the market today are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the Adreno 730. The most likely scenario is that the Quest 3 will be twice as powerful as the Quest 2. It will most likely be the case if the year-to-year performance improvements are any indication.
One of the reasons that virtual reality is becoming more popular is the fact that the Quest 2 is one of the best headsets on the market. Virtual reality headsets will continue to grow in popularity if the Quest 3 expands what they can do.
The upcoming project of the same name is rumored to launch on October 11. The Quest 3 will be more of a follow-up to the Quest 2 than the Quest Pro is.
