According to the New York Post, the New York Mets will start Max Scherzer against the San Diego Padres in the first game of the National League Wild Card round.

The Mets are considering a strategy to preserve Jacob deGrom for the first game of the NLCS against the Dodgers.

If the Mets lose the first game of the Wild Card Round, deGrom could start in the second game.

If the Mets win the first game of the series, Chris Bassitt would play in the second game.

The Mets want to save one of their top pitchers for a potential series against the Dodgers.

If the Mets sweep the Padres, deGrom could face the L.A. Dodgers in the first and second games of the series.

The Mets haven't said what they're going to do for the Padres series. The two pitchers haven't pitched since Saturday and Friday against Atlanta.

The Braves await the outcome of the game. The LouisCardinals series.

The Mets will need to beat the Padres twice to get to L.A. New York has not won a World Series title since 1986.

The first game of the series will be played at the New York Mets' Citi Field. The time is Friday.
