Microsoft announced in February of this year that an app to help Windows 11 users improve color accuracy and consistency for gaming on their high definition displays was on its way. The app is now available for download.

You can use the app to test for the dark and bright visible details on your screen as well as its maximum brightness. You can change how vivid the colors are for both content.

If you want to use the app, you need a PC running Windows 11 and a display with high Dynamic Range. If you want to get the most out of your graphics card, you need an Intel 11th Gen computer with integrated graphics, an IntelDG1 or later, or an Nvidia GTX 10xx or later. The display driver for your display needs to be newer than 2.5. If you don't have the latest drivers, you need to check Windows Update.

How to use Windows HDR Calibration

You can open up the store. There's a search for WindowsHDR Calibration. The result should be the first one to come up. You can click get. Make sure it's on. If you want to turn it on, go to the settings section. Click the Windows logo if you want to open All apps. If you have more than one display, make sure the app opens on all of them.

From here, you can choose which test patterns you want to use and drag the sliders to make your display look better. You should use the app in the same area as you use your display. You might want to reexamine if you replace your display or move it.
