Can the Colts get on track against the Broncos? (1:24)

The Colts need to do certain things in order to win in Denver. There is a time and a place for it.

1:27 PM ET

The Colts All-Pro running back will miss the first game of his college or pro career after being ruled out for Thursday night's road contest against the Broncos.

Taylor injured his ankle late in the Colts' loss to the TennesseeTitans and did not return to the game. He had been undergoing constant rehabilitation in an effort to return for Thursday night's game.

The third-year back couldn't overcome the injury.

Taylor said that if he can't go, he won't. You have to get as much treatment as possible.

Even though Taylor is in the lineup, the Colts have not been able to generate a consistent running game. The Colts enter Week 5 ranked 27th in rushing yards per game (87.8) and per carry ( 3.5), a far cry from last season, when they led the league in rushing and Taylor was the lead back.

The Colts will rely on a group of running backs, including a former Broncos star.
